The Quest for the Perfect Fit

Production Update & The Quest for the Perfect Fit

Curious about how your shoes are coming along? The factory in Portugal is all set. All the materials have arrived, except for the Mirum (the upper). That’s being made and will then be shipped from America to Portugal, where production will begin. We expect you’ll be able to wear your Noochies by the end of May or early June.

Now, regarding foot measurements: Many people have already submitted their measurements, and we’re still seeing quite a few discrepancies between the measured foot sizes and the shoe sizes provided. That’s not entirely surprising, as there’s no such thing as a universal shoe size. But to get this just right for Nooch, we’ve enlisted the help of measurement expert Professor Hein Daanen. In just an hour, we went through all your measurement data, looked at scatter plots and learnt a lot about fit testing, the relationship between pregnancy and foot sizes, and more. It was really great fun and interesting! Hein is going to help us create the ideal formula for the perfect fit. To do this, we still need to do two things:

Fitting test: We’re looking for around 50 ‘random’ people to take part in a test. This will take no more than 15 minutes. Do you work at a company with enough people to take part? Let us know!

Measuring your feet digitally: We’ve spent a long time trying to find the perfect tool for measuring your feet, but until now, none of them were user-friendly or good enough. However, we’ve finally found a company that’s cracked it, and we’re going to be working with them. All you need is a smartphone and a bank card (for reference). No faffing about downloading apps! As soon as we’ve got this fully up and running, we’ll share the link with you so you can give it a go.

Finally, a quick word about the pick-up party: we’ve visited our first venue, the Amsterdamse Bos. They’re really enthusiastic about Nooch and we can organise some great activities there. What’s really cool about this venue is that it’s surrounded by nature, is easily accessible, offers both indoor and outdoor options, sustainability is important to them, and we don’t have to deal directly with all sorts of commercial interests and obstacles.

We’re still on the lookout for more venues like this across the country. If you know of a great venue, please let us know!
