Dear Noochling,
Good news first: our former outsole partner Pliant has found a new investor. 🎉
Since we originally fell in love with Pliant for our outsoles, we’re back in contact and actively exploring if we can use Pliant again for this batch. Which could mean a clear and quick route to production. At this point, this is our preferred way forward.
At the same time, we’re fully pushing forward with dandelion rubber which has us absolutely thrilled thanks to its ingenuity and groundbreaking potential.
This material sounds very promising and has already been used for rubber tyres. The sourcing is much easier because we'd be moving from the scarcity of rubber trees to the abundance of dandelions which is fantastic. So It looks even more promising long-term: natural, abundant, and a perfect fit with our Planet Safe values.
The trade-off? Because it’s new for shoe soles, it may take numerous rounds of testing and therefore more time.
We’re running both paths simultaneously. Speed where possible, innovation where it matters.
So, without making any hard promises yet, we are still aiming for a spring delivery.
As always, we'll be keeping you in the loop with regular updates on production and delivery timelines.
Thanks so much for being part of this
With love,
Lotte and Stefan
